Block 70 - Tazzie

Here is my Block 70. As much as I want to rush holus-bolus into the last block, because it's getting late, and with work commitments, it's unlikely I'll get any stitching done until Thursday. Unless I get super organised ... and there's not much chance of that!

I made a small error with this block - the large cream outer triangles should have been green, and the smaller green triangles should have been cream. Having said that, I'm still thrilled with the way the block looks, so it's staying as is.

Rock on Thursday, I'm dying to get the last block made!!

Block 69 - Tazzie

Here is my Block 69 - finished just a few minutes ago. Just a few more gaps to fill and I can start final assembly of the quilt top. Very exciting!

Block 65 - Tazzie

And here is my second block for the day - Block 65.

It's just short of 11pm Sunday now, so it's fairly safe to say that I'm done for the weekend. Tomorrow is my day off though, so there may be another NI block in my near future :-)

Block 63 - Tazzie

I'm on a Nearly Insane roll again. Here is Block 63 - isn't the fussy cut fan in the centre cute? I had wanted to use an owl which was on the same fabric, but it was too close to the selvedge to center it nicely.

If you're counting along, you'll know I only have six blocks remaining now ... let's see if I can get another done before the end of the weekend ...

Block 62 - Tazzie

Here's another one finished. This is block 62, and so easy to put together. I'd like to get another one underway this afternoon. I'm not sure which I'll choose yet.

I'm down to single digits remaining now :-)

Block 64 - Tazzie

I've just finished NI block 64. As I often do, I changed the orientation of two of the outer rows of triangles. It pleases me to make the blocks more symmetrical.

And just thought I'd mention ... 10 blocks to go!

Block #67 - Ann

This was supposed to be a nice easy block, but I managed to make the corner square-in-a-square pieces the wrong size! Oh well, those went into the crumb block bin, and the new ones fit nicely.

Blocks 68 & 72 - Tazzie

Just so you know I haven't been slacking off ;-) here are my two latest Nearly Insane blocks.

This is block 72 - I made it late-ish last night. It was late when I took the picture, and I'm declaring that the hour was the reason for the blurry picture - nothing to do with the camera operator *lol* I was able to use some of my skinny leftover strips for this block. With the tiny pieces, nothing is wasted, that's for sure!

And here is block 68 - I made it on Friday, but haven't showed it off yet. Another one that has used the tiniest of pieces.

I had a couple of questions from people I wasn't able to personally email back to - mostly asking about the size of the blocks. They're six inch blocks - and can be quite time consuming for such small blocks, but very rewarding.

Now I only have 14 blocks left to make. I'll try and make another tonight. I'm already thinking ahead to how I'll quilt it, this is such fun! :-)

Block 61 - Tazzie

I'm all inspired right now, and so I've gotten another block together quickly. This one is block 61, and if I had to choose a word to describe it, I'd choose 'pesky'. Lots of flippy corners!

If you haven't made this block, I definitely have a recommendation: always press your seams toward the red fabric. Makes the block go together much easier. Ask me how I know :-)

Block #68 - Ann

I look at this now that it's done and just think, Wow - this is really bright! But I think it will look fine in the larger quilt, because I have plenty of other bright colors that will work their way into this project.

Block 70 ~ Kristie

Sorry that it has been a while since I have posted on here. This is block #70. This one is paper-pieced, which I find much easier when making small blocks.
I would really like to get back to working on these a little more regular and not just a block here and there. I am doing this in BLUES since I had several other quilts in the works using reproduction fabrics. Had I to do it over, I would go with the reproduction fabrics, they are my favorite!

Block 67 - Tazzie

This is Block 67, and I think it may be one of my favourites so far.

Once again I used my preferred 'freezer paper piecing' technique. I just wish I'd known about this method of making and using templates when I was making my first DJ quilt - it would have been SO MUCH easier.

This block has 29 pieces, so it's a doddle compared to some of the much more fiddly ones. I'd really like to take on Block 8, but I'm really nervous about it - hints anyone?
